Under the rose
Sub rosa: in strict confidence. Since antiquity, a rose hung above a council table meant nothing said beneath it would be repeated.
The key
Clavis: Latin for key. In the great houses of old, whoever held the keys decided which doors opened, and for whom.
The difficult and the discreet have always called for the same person: someone with the key, and the sense never to mention it. Every great house once kept one, a keeper of its doors and of its confidences. Clavis Sub Rosa is that keeper, for the few who still need one.
We keep our circle deliberately small, so that every principal receives our full attention, at any hour and in any country. We are retained by individuals and by the family offices who act on their behalf, and we answer to no one else.
The House
For what cannot be arranged, by those who cannot be refused.
We do not publish a list of services. If you have been introduced, you already know why.
i.
A table that does not exist.
ii.
A door that was closed, opened.
iii.
A matter settled before it became news.
iv.
An answer, at an hour no one else would give one.
v.
A journey no one will know was taken.
vi.
A problem that simply ceases to be one.
Process
Every principal is introduced. Very few are accepted.
I
Introduction
Principals arrive through someone we already trust. Requests without an introduction are considered, rarely.
II
Conversation
A private conversation under mutual non-disclosure, to understand what you require and how you prefer to be served.
III
Acceptance
Only then are terms discussed. Once accepted, you have a single point of contact, and a single line.
Engagement
By retainer
For principals and family offices who want us on call, without exception.
Engagement
By the matter
For a single request, anywhere, handled from first word to last.
We have never named a client, and never will.
Which is why you will find none here
If you were given our name, you were given it for a reason.
Every request is read personally. Not every request receives a reply.
